The Key to Building Burundi, Africa is Love

Amb. Clyde Rivers

The small African country of Burundi is truly changing the mindset of the world on nation development. This nation of 8.5 million people has become the light of the world, because of one word love.

As I travel through the country of Burundi I sometimes just stop and ask the people how the feel about the President and the Leadership of the country. What the vast majority say to me is that he loves us. Think about this for someone to say someone loves them, there has to be action behind it. What I can say about the country of Burundi is the people have seen the actions of the leadership of the country and they call it love". President Pierre Nkurunziza, keep loving the people it's changing the nation. A new way to nation build is to love the human resource and they will build their own country. Only love can change us.

Buntu Foundation Giving Practical Skills Training

The First Lady of Burundi, Denise Nkurunziza

The First Lady of Burundi, Denise Nkurunziza has a true understanding of what it takes to develop a people to run a country at a practical level.  Her project of the Buntu foundation is truly amazing. She has created a place of practical job training and skill development for the people of Burundi. The training Centre of the Buntu Foundation is like a college, but it is for skill development. Prof. Clyde Rivers said after a visit to the site. “I'm very
encouraged with the future of Burundi”. When you see a people obtaining skills in practical life task you know the future will be sustainable for that nation".

The Buntu Project is more than education it is life skills training which is one of the lost arts around the world. This is the most important education in a developing a nation, giving people skills that provide an income so they can live.

The nation of Burundi is a model of training people to work.
Every Saturday morning the Republic of Burundi has community work day from 9 to 11. Every Burundian is building something positive in their community. This day has created a spirit of self-ownership for every Burundian citizen. It is designed to help them take stake in the building of the future of their country. If they build it then they will never take it down. That's the new ownership model in Burundi, Africa.

The President of the Republic of Burundi has a heart to empower the youth of Burundi.  President Pierre Nkurunziza takes out time to spend with the youth of the nation. His message was teaching them that they are the leaders of the country. I watched; said Amb. Clyde Rivers as the youth received practical training on self-development and nation building skills.

The President shared with the youth that they are the future of Burundi; and to build a nation on honor, ethics and a love for your nation is the key to success.
