Apostle Dr. Sylvester Brinson III, a newly appointed World Peace Ambassador, was awarded the Golden Rule International Award in Michigan this fall. He is the Founder of Hope Outreach Ministries International Inc. based in Chicago IL. Hope Outreach is a non-profit ministry with divisions in several states in the US and Canada. Their focus is on holistic care, understanding that life’s issues are not just single faceted but often complex. Hope Outreach engages in the arts, physical wellness and mental health care, to name a few. They are also committed to Prison Outreach, Veteran Affairs as well as Marketing and Provision Developing. Much of their work is within the inner city culture. There is a strong focus on education working to equip students through their accredited Bible College and Seminary - Hope Institute - that is also offered inside the prison system.

The Golden Rule as a Global Ethic to better mankind was central to the conversation with the radio hosts Doug Basler and Marty McClendon. Ambassador Rivers was asked what is the importance of the Golden Rule? Ambassador Rivers explained, “My message embraces the point that every individual person alive has value. As a matter of fact, if every individual were able to live out his or her particular contribution to society, our world would be a better place. It would be a place where the fulfillment of the needs of nations would be met because every person’s gift would be a contribution to the success of those nations. The open door to this kind of Culture of Honor is the Golden Rule Global Ethic – “Treat others the way you want to be treated.” This ethic lifts everyone higher and builds great communities and nations. It was a great privilege to be a part of the unveiling of the iChange Nations™ - Human Rights Global Congress™, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I believe that this organization will be one of the most effective teachers of Human Rights in the world today. I say this because I saw the vision, not to promote the rights of one nation, religion, or individual, but to promote the rights of all humans. 

   

I was able to speak on the Human Rights Article 19 of the United Nations, ”Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.”

We will not always agree in life, but that does not mean that every individual should not be able to state what he or she believes. The surest way to destroy all the other Human Rights is to not allow someone to speak out when their rights have been violated.

The Human Rights should never be up for a vote of popular opinion. If this happens, you will see the destruction of a freethinking society. It becomes one of tyranny in a very short period of time. As Benjamin Franklin said “Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote.”

The only way to ensure that the rights of all men, women and children are protected is not through the strength of our police force or military, but through the teaching and the practice of living the Golden Rule – “Do not do anything to another that you not want them to do to you.”

Charles Hughes and Dr. Gordon E. Bradshaw have worked together in the Gary, Indiana Chamber of Commerce to create the Community Civility Counts Initiative (CCC). This initiative is designed to create awareness that we can be better in every area of life. Chuck Hughes is the Executive Director of the Gary Chamber and Dr. Bradshaw is a member of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Public Policy Committee. Chuck Hughes and Dr. Gordon E. Bradshaw are on a mission to help transform communities through positive programs and relationships. They are both retired Chief Officers with local fire departments with a combined 64 years of service and have dedicated their lives to helping communities. Both are members of the 3M Project Global Initiative with Dr. Bradshaw serving as Founder and President. They were both recipients of the IChange Nations Distinguished Leadership Medal and Golden Rule International Ambassador appointments for 2015 at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

A few years ago Chuck was impressed to create public awareness of civility, and in March of 2015 created the heading “Community Civility Counts.” The Public Policy Committee met and Dr. Bradshaw developed the logo and tag line: “Together We Win!” The Northwest Indiana Times Newspaper and Media Group partnered with the Chamber to advance the mission and created a Twitter account, Facebook page, web page and sponsored an essay and drawing contest to encourage students and adults alike to get on board. Ford Presidential Library with the awards being presented by Ambassador Dr. Clyde Rivers the Representative to the United Nations for the Interfaith Peace-Building Initiative, North American Division - New York. Golden Rule International is affiliated with the Interfaith Peace-Building Initiative Organization, Department of Public Information of United Nations.  

The assembly hosted a vast representation of Human Rights Organizations Entrepreneurs and Politicians. Each individual in attendance denotes leadership that spans the scope from Environmental to Spiritual leadership. Each doing their part and committed to one cause, ‘treating others the way you want to be treated’ – the Golden Rule.

On April 17, 2015 at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library, Grand Rapids, Michigan, Ambassador Dr. Clyde Rivers, the Director of the North American Division of the Interfaith Peace-Building Initiative and the Golden Rule International Award presented Dr. Bradshaw with the highly esteemed Golden Rule International Award.

Dr. Gordon Bradshaw has served his community for over 42 years. He served in the Public Safety/Government sector and the Faith-Based community. He is also the Founder of the 3M Project Global Initiative and is a member of the Kingdom Congressional International Alliance, where he serves as the Vice President of the organization.

Ambassador Clyde Rivers said, “Dr. Bradshaw is an exemplary model of leadership. The legacy he will leave to the next generation is that of service to humanity. CHARLES HUGHES RECOGNIZED GLOBALLY FOR HIS SERVICE TO EMPOWER COMMUNITIES

Charles Hughes is the Executive Director of the Gary, Indiana Chamber of Commerce. His life of service to the City of Gary, Indiana has brought global recognition. Ambassador Dr. Clyde Rivers, the Director of the North American Division of the Interfaith Peace-Building Initiative and the Golden Rule International Award presented Charles Hughes with the prestigious Golden Rule International Award. He was appointed as a Goodwill Peace Ambassador for Golden Rule International at a ceremony held on April 17, 2015 at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library, Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Charles Hughes serves his community at multiple levels. As a fireman for 34 years, reaching the rank of Battalion Chief, he has been recognized for creating a strong relationship between the department and the community. Mr. Hughes also served for 16 years as a member of the Gary, Indiana City Council, with two of his terms served as the President of the Council. His success also enabled him to serve as the Education Chairman for the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns. Hughes continued his dedication to service as the Chairman of the Committee of National League of Cities, Public Safety and Crime Prevention. Ambassador Dr. Clyde Rivers said, “These accomplishments prove to the world that he is qualified to serve as a Goodwill Peace Ambassador for the Golden Rule and the Interfaith Peace-Building Initiative. We are honored to have Charles Hughes serve with us globally.”
